💥 Leader Breakdown: Green/Purple Lim

Macgyver chose GP Lim for this event thanks to her incredible synergy with the new OP13 cards. Her ability to apply pressure, develop a wide interactive board, and stay relevant into late-game decision trees makes her a standout leader in the current meta. Despite only playing the deck for a few weeks, he showcased impressive comfort and execution throughout the night.

After taking first place, we caught up with Macgyver to break down his deck choice, toughest matchups, and his mindset heading into the future weeks of competition.

🏆 Winner Interview

Q: What leader did you use to take the win tonight?

A: I used GP Lim.

Q: Why did you choose that deck for this event?

A: With the new OP13 cards, Lim becomes a very strong leader that can keep up with the new boss leaders of the format.

Q: What’s your favorite part about playing that leader?

A: I love the versatility the leader has and her ability to build a strong interactive board.

Q: How long have you been playing this deck or leader?

A: I just recently picked up this leader and have been playing it for a few weeks now.

Q: What was your toughest matchup tonight and how did you handle it?

A: My toughest matchup was against Leader RU Ace. Losing die roll meant I needed to emphasize going wide with my board and keeping my characters alive.

Q: What card or combo carried you the most tonight?

A: My best combo of the night was playing a 5 cost Sabo on turn 2 with leader ability and then playing a 5 cost Sanji on turn 3 restanding 2 DON!! allowing me to play another character off my leader ability.

“Really stoked with being 1st and hopefully I can keep it up.”

Q: Any advice for players looking to take first place next week?

A: Find a leader that you enjoy playing and put in lots of practice. Learning from other players and figuring out certain combos and ways to counter other leaders in the meta can make the difference.

Q: Are you planning to stick with this deck for future events?

A: I like to switch things up and play new leaders every so often, but I will definitely be returning with Lim for more events. Really looking forward to bringing the new OP14 leaders in the future!

Q: Being 1st on the new season leaderboard, how do you feel and how will you maintain your spot?

A: Really stoked with being 1st and hopefully I can keep it up. Very nerve wracking cause now I will be the target to take down, but I will be welcoming every challenge. To maintain my spot I will be coming to every event and continuing to hone my skills further.

Q: Any shoutouts to friends or rivals?

A: Big shoutout to Reuben (Rimeru) for getting third place and a shoutout to Drew for a tough match as always. Really happy about that win as he is definitely the guy to watch out for every event.
