Gundam Locals Spotlight — Edgar M (11/16/25)
Gundam Locals • Tilted Gaming TCG
15973 Piuma Ave, Cerritos CA 90703
Wing Zero & Aile Variant — the Green/White deck Edgar piloted to victory at our Gundam Locals.
Edgar secured first place at our Gundam Card Game Weekly Locals with a disciplined and highly refined Green/White Wing Zero & Aile Variant build. With Set 2: Dual Impact shaking up the meta, the deck’s consistency, strong matchup spread, and the inclusion of Deathscythe played a major role in his climb to the top.
After the tournament, we sat down with Edgar to talk about deck choices, toughest rounds, meta thoughts, and what keeps him coming back to our weekly Gundam events at Tilted Gaming Cerritos.
🌟 Player Profile
Name: Edgar M
Bandai Account: SkaterMoon
Gundam Player Since: Launch (Beta tested)
Other TCGs Played: Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon, Lorcana
Deck Style: Functional > Bling
Edgar’s knowledge has made him one of the early standouts of our Gundam Locals community. With Wing Zero’s balance of tempo, removal, and resource control, he showed exactly why the deck remains a threat in the Set 2 meta.
⚙️ Deck Breakdown: G/W Wing Zero & Aile Variant
Edgar’s deck leans on the unmatched efficiency of Green/White, supported by Wing Zero’s role compression and Aile’s utility. His inclusion of Gundam Deathscythe — a tech many players have abandoned — proved crucial, providing multi-card value in every game. Set 2’s Gundam Heavyarms added major consistency, making the deck even harder to disrupt.
Here’s Edgar’s full interview after his first-place finish:
🏆 Winner Interview
Q: What’s your name and Bandai account name?
A: Edgar, SkaterMoon
Q: How long have you been coming to Tilted Gaming?
A: About 4 months
Q: How did you get into playing the Gundam Card Game?
A: I wanted a break from other card games, I was looking for new mechanics/gameplay and having tried the beta, I hopped on at release.
Q: Since Gundam is still fairly new, what other TCGs did you play before GCG?
A: Competitive Yugioh for many years, alongside Pokémon, One Piece, and Lorcana.
Q: Blinged out deck or functional deck?
A: I used to be all about maximum rarity, but now I prefer to have 4–5 functional low-rarity decks.
Q: What color(s) did you use to take the win tonight?
A: Green/White, Standard Wing Zero & Aile Variant
Q: Why did you choose that deck for this event?
A: It has the best matchup spread, and when piloted with patience has no trouble with aggro or the mirror.
Q: What makes your deck different from other Green/White decks?
A: Green White has very little room for expression/experimentation, but I still strongly believe in the inclusion of Gundam Deathscythe as opposed to something like Freedom Gundam.
“Fantastic people, always nice to see them at the Tilted tables!”
Q: How long have you been playing this color combo?
A: Since Newtype Mission 1
Q: How has GCG Set 2 Dual Impact affected your deck?
A: Most notably, I play 3 copies of the new Gundam Heavyarms, who provides a huge consistency boost through its ability.
Q: What was your toughest matchup today and how did you handle it?
A: Definitely the mirror in the final round. No matter how consistent your deck is, there’s always that slim chance of bricking. I had to contend with a costly post-mulligan hand, which meant every resource spent mattered immensely. It came down to understanding which card can be played by my opponent on any given turn, ensuring I always had the answer without overcommitting.
Q: What unit, link, or pair carried you the most tonight?
A: Gundam Deathscythe, no contest. The vast majority of Green/White players removed him from their lists, but in my case, it provided 2-for-1 (sometimes 3-for-1) value every time it came down.
Q: Thoughts on the current meta and how it affects locals?
A: Though most would disagree, I believe we’re in a very diverse metagame that offers lots of room for innovation and growth.
Q: With only two sets and a third coming early next year, does Set 3 need to be more impactful than Set 2?
A: From what’s been revealed, I believe Set 3 is on the right track to level the playing field and guide players toward innovation and unique builds.
Q: Advice for new GCG players?
A: Now’s a great time to hop in! With only two sets and six starters out, you can be caught up to the current meta in no time! Definitely swing by Tilted Gaming if you need help building any deck from casual to competitive. If you’re just getting started, remember that your deck is only as strong as its weakest turn and losses are just opportunities to learn and grow.
Q: Any shoutouts?
A: As always, a shoutout to my testing group: Jeff, Juan, Alex, Wes, and of course the most skilled player I can test against, Darren. Fantastic people, always nice to see them at the Tilted tables!
