Season 0 of the Gundam Leaderboard marks another major milestone for Tilted Gaming. As part of our very first leaderboard rollout, Gundam players competed across multiple event days, earning points through wins and consistent participation.

With the rankings remaining extremely tight throughout the season, Jeff secured Rank #1 by the narrowest margin — becoming the first-ever Gundam Leaderboard Champion at Tilted Gaming.

After the season wrapped, we sat down with Jeff to talk about the close finish, staying motivated, and how the leaderboard system changed the feel of local Gundam events.

 

🏆 Winner Interview — Gundam Leaderboard Season 0

Q: How do you feel about the win for our very first season, season 0?

A: I feel like my win was a very close one. I barely won with one point from a game loss.

Q: Have you done any other leaderboard style competition at other Local Stores?

A: I have heard that another local store in the area uses a leaderboard, but I think the main difference is that they have less days that apply to the leaderboard rankings.

Q: What kept you motivated and coming back to secure 1st place?

A: The rankings were really close for about a month between me, Darren, and Juan. First place was still a possibility so I felt like I should at least show up consistently to all the Gundam days to have a good chance of winning.

Q: Did you feel like you wanted to keep using the same deck to secure the win and what's your plan for the new season?

A: At first I was playing around with a variety of decks to see what was available in GD02 at release. The second half of the season had me use a specific deck as Newtype Challenges were approaching and I wanted to practice with my chosen list.

Q: Any tips you would like to give out for anyone else wanting to secure 1st next season?

A: The points are based on wins so keep showing up to locals! A win still counts for full points even if you are out of the running for winning during that day. The points will keep adding up towards the end and you could pull ahead on the leaderboards.

Q: We are now going into our official first season and will have new seasons quarterly, are you ready to compete again?

A: The games keep on going. With the new set of cards coming in a month, I’m ready to keep playing Gundam at Titled Gaming!

Q: Do you think the leaderboard system makes the local events more competitive or fun?

A: I think the leaderboard is a good addition to local events for everyone involved. Normally, there’s only the incentive of getting the winner pack/store credit so if I were to get destroyed on that day, it’d feel like I just wasted money on the buy in and didn’t get much out of it. At least with the leaderboard, it’ll encourage people to play it out and get those points to get something at the end of the season.

Q: As this was our very first season, Do you have any feedback on the leaderboard system?

A: I think this iteration of the leaderboard works well for encouraging participation. I don’t think there’s much else to change about the system. I do like seeing the colors of what people usually play.

Q: Any shoutouts for the season you want to give?

A: I’d like to give shoutouts to all the regulars for every event: Darren, West, Juan, Alejandro, Jonas, and Miko. They’re always there and making sure that these events fire off (and we can get more points)
