Every community has an underdog story in the making and for our Tuesday Night Armory, that story belongs to Richard R. With just one month of Flesh and Blood experience, Richard has shown up every single week, full of grit, heart, and determination to grow. Whether win or lose, his energy has become a staple of Tilted Gaming’s FaB scene.

This spotlight keeps all his words exactly as he said them; authentic, honest, funny, and inspiring. Here’s his full interview.

Q: What's your name, nickname and Discord name?

A: Hey my name is Richard or Rcromero06 on discord.

Q: Placing last tonight at our Tuesday Armory, what hero did you play and why?

A: I did place last today and probably won’t be the last time unfortunately. I have been playing Rhinar as it was the first hero I was introduced to for Flesh and Blood.

Q: How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood?

A: I’ve been playing Flesh and Blood for about a month now and I don’t see me stopping anytime soon.

Q: What got you into the game originally?

A: Me and my brother both played Magic the Gathering but we got tired of waiting for a commander night to happen with the family so I told him let’s look into Flesh and Blood since it only involves two players and the rest is history.

Q: What's your favorite format?

A: Sage!!! It’s legit the only format I actually won multiple games in!

Q: With only one win and fourteen losses on the leaderboard, what keeps the game exciting for you?

A: Thank god for the bye! On a serious note though, Flesh and Blood is exciting even with all the losses. It’s a very engaging game and feels like every rep/game I play I’m learning something new. Hopefully learning more and more to get a legitimate win soon!

Q: Do you think Rhinar isn't for you? Plans to learn other heroes?

A: Rhinar is a little rough for me to get the hang of because I’m just swinging hoping to get just enough value compared to the wide boards everybody else gets. But with these reps I’m starting to learn the in’s and outs of everybody's heroes and hoping the switch over to a new one works out.

Q: Do you get reps outside Tilted or only here at Tuesday Nights?

A: I’ll play against my brother when I bring my cards over to my moms but besides that all my reps are played in house at my favorite shop Tilted Gaming.

Q: What advice would you give newer players coming to Armory events?

A: Expect the steep curve. It’s not a TCG that you will get good at right away but that’s what makes it even more rewarding once things start clicking and realizing how things are supposed to work.

Q: Any shoutouts tonight?

A: I wouldn’t say I have any rivals when I’m giving out Dubs (wins) to everybody lol but shout out to all the fellas being patient and teaching me how I’m supposed to play the game.

Q: What keeps you coming back every week?

A: The community and workers are awesome. Even though the game is very competitive everybody is really just trying to better each other and making sure we are playing the most optimal way we can.

Q: Final question — are you the underdog of Tilted? Anything to say to your competition?

A: Underdog, Cinderella story, the long shot and everything else in the book but I don’t have “quitting” in me. I know eventually I’ll start getting traction and get those wins piling up and everyone on the leaderboard better watch out!
