🏆 Player Interview

Sure!

How long have you been playing Flesh and Blood, and what hero did you start with?

I’ve been playing for about a year and a half now. I started right after Rosetta came out but my first hero was actually Enigma, Ledger of Ancestry. I’m a sucker for summoners and some weird instant shenanigans. I only played with her for about 3 or 4 months before I switched to my beloved Arakni, Marionette.

What hero did you decide to run tonight, and why did you choose them for this Armory?

Tonight I ran Arakni, Marionette (Mario) because 1: why would I run anything else, and 2: the build had changed a lot because the Bans and Restricted announcement had just come out, banning yellow and blue orb weaver spinneret, and the Arakni, Slippy Armory Deck had just come out, so there were some new fun cards to play with.

First place is never easy, what do you feel helped you get there tonight? Any deck changes, tech choices, or mindset that stood out?

Because of the new AD and BnR, I knew that some of the more meta heroes that I struggled against wouldn’t be appearing, and that there would be at least a couple Slippys. I’d been experimenting with a more stealth oriented list recently, and Slippy’s hero ability helped me out, so I might’ve been a little stealth heavy tonight in particular. I think the mindset is always the same though; have fun and improve as much as possible.

For players struggling against your hero, what tips would you give, especially newer players learning the matchup?

Ya know, I wish I could tell you. I struggle so much against assassins myself, but I think that keeping track of already played/blocked/discarded attack reactions, and bluffing d-reacts is the main thing.

Was there a matchup tonight that gave you trouble?

Yes. Very much so. Luke’s Slippy that I struggled with the most. I got there in the end by being able to fatigue him, but we both had d-reacts at all the right times and had some great misdirections as well. Honestly could’ve gone either way until maybe the third to last turn. Well played Luke. I’ll remember that game for a while.

How long have you been coming to Tilted Gaming, and what keeps you coming back?

I’ve been coming since they opened, so six months? (I have no idea, time blends together now) I love the friendly atmosphere, the player first mentality, and the community especially. Just all round a wonderful store to hang out at.

How was your experience playing here tonight?

It was a fantastic armory as always. Except for Joe’s fatigue Jarl list. That was gross and I hated it. I’m coming back with a vengeance.

How would you describe the competitive level of our local Armory meta right now?

Very competitive. We have multiple AGE finalists that come in frequently, as well as just an all round group of really smart, dedicated players. It’s always competitive and it keeps me on my toes every week.

Is there a player or deck at Tilted Gaming that consistently pushes you to play better?

Honestly everyone there pushes me to be better. I love talking through plays with everyone during and after to be better. The people that stand out to me though are Kai, Valerio, and Clark. Kai and Valerio are fantastic players and also my good friends so I can’t let them win easily or what kind of friend would I be? Clark however constantly questions my plays, my deck choices, my sanity, and asks me why? He’s such a consistently great player that I look up to and every question he asks or answers teaches me something.

With our first Pro Quest (Las Vegas – Silver Age) coming up in February, do you plan on participating?

Absolutely, although I don't have any Silver Age decks yet. Probably going to build Arakni, Web of Deceit, Puffin, and Boltyn? MILB

Any shoutouts or final thoughts you want to share with the community?

Come to locals and eat food with us after. That’s where you learn the important stuff, like how Golden Tipple is actually good in Puffin because you can use it to discard Riches of Tropal-Dhani and get a no block out of your deck.
